Dragon Ball Anime Fans Get a Special New DAIMA Release Next Month

Ahead of its mid-March release, two iconic tunes from the Dragon Ball Daima official soundtrack are available for free. The first musical track is Daima‘s battle theme song. As one would guess, this delightful tune is played for every action scene featuring Kid Goku and his friends. This song is included on the first CD.

The second Daima track made available for free is associated with the “Awakening” of Super Saiyan 4 Goku in Episode 18. “Hidden Power” represents Goku’s unbelievable new transformation unlocked by the elderly Namekian Neva during his fight against King Gomah and his Evil Third Eye. Super Saiyan 4 was an anime-original concept developed for Dragon Ball GT and hasn’t been seen in the franchise for nearly three decades. When the long-awaited moment finally arrived, Goku’s Super Saiyan 4 transformation “broke the internet” by crashing the servers of multiple streaming services — legal and non-legal — and dominating social media conversations on websites like X (formerly Twitter).

In addition to the upcoming soundtrack release, the full opening and ending theme songs for Dragon Ball Daima have been released. Zedd, a record producer and DJ from Kaiserslautern, Germany, composed the opening and ending theme songs. “Jaka Jaan” was composed by Zedd and KEEN, written by Yukinojo Mori, and performed by C&K and Zedd. Longtime Dragon Ball fans discovered a hidden message in the opening theme song that honored the late Akira Toriyama, who passed away in March 2024.

The ending theme song, “Nakama,” was composed by Zedd and written and performed by AI. It debuted in Episode 2 of Daima and features encouraging lyrics performed in Japanese and English. For example, the song closes out with these lyrics:

There’s no giving up, come rain or shine

Go as far as we can go

One more tomorrow

I got you by my side

Run, run, run, run

Over the mountains through the storm

I got your voice in my heart

And it was there from the start

You know that we’re never alone

The visuals for the ending theme song evoke Toriyama’s adventurous cover art of the original Dragon Ball manga, which makes sense considering Toriyama’s heavy involvement with Daima. However, the imagery of white feathers that form a bird is speculated to be another tribute to the late Toriyama, as his production company was Bird Studio.
